Job Summary
Accounting Assistant (CONTRACT)
You are an an organized, motivated, and eager-to-learn individual looking to start or grow your career in accounting and office administration. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their career who wants hands-on training and exposure to accounting, administration, and business operations within a supportive, family-oriented company. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and excited to learn new skills while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
This position pays: $25/hour
Location: Petaluma, CA
What you will be doing:
- Learn and assist with administrative and accounting support duties for the Controller and office team
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls professionally and courteously
- Assist with office communications, emails, and correspondence
- Support preparation, formatting, and distribution of proposals and business documents
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical files and records
- Assist with document routing and electronic signatures through DocuSign
- Perform data entry and learn basic accounting functions within company systems
- Help maintain accurate records and support day-to-day office operations
- Greet visitors, clients, and vendors and provide a positive first impression
- Assist with special projects and administrative tasks as assigned
- Gain exposure to accounting processes, business operations, and office management
- Work closely with experienced team members who will provide training and mentorship
What you bring:
- Recent graduate or someone looking to start a career in accounting, business, administration, or a related field
- Strong desire to learn, grow, and develop professionally
- Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow instructions and learn new systems and processes
- Dependable, professional, and team-oriented approach
- Comfortable working onsite in a collaborative office environment
- Accounting coursework, business classes, internships, or office experience are a plus, but not required
