Sonoma County, CA | Hybrid 

Compensation: Base $100-120K plus bonus

A leading global supplier of premium winery equipment is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead commercial activities throughout assigned territories. This is an excellent opportunity for a sales professional with winery equipment sales experience, capital equipment sales experience, or strong technical sales experience within the wine industry.The position is based in Sonoma County, California, and requires  travel throughout Northern California and other assigned territories.

Position Summary

The Sales Manager is responsible for proactively managing and growing equipment sales within the assigned territory, developing existing winery relationships, prospecting for new business, and providing consultative technical solutions.

The successful candidate will understand winery operations and be comfortable discussing equipment solutions with winemakers, cellar managers, winery executives, consultants, and other decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and expand relationships with existing winery customers while developing new accounts throughout the territory.
  • Work directly with winemakers, cellar managers, winery executives, consultants, and project stakeholders to identify current and future equipment needs.
  • Evaluate winery operations, processing workflows, existing equipment, and infrastructure to identify opportunities for upgrades, replacement equipment, and process improvements.
  • Recommend technical equipment solutions for grape processing, destemming, sorting, pressing, pumping, material handling, bottling, labeling, tanks, and related winery operations.
  • Develop new business through regular customer visits, prospecting, networking, referrals, and cold outreach.
  • Present equipment capabilities and clearly communicate advantages related to efficiency, durability, innovation, maintenance, performance, and service.
  • Develop customized equipment proposals, specifications, quotations, and presentations.
  • Work closely with service, logistics, management, suppliers, and technical teams to ensure accurate equipment specifications and successful project execution.
  • Manage the complete sales and order process from initial opportunity and quotation through delivery, installation, commissioning, and customer training.
  • Help customers identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce downtime, streamline processes, and improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Develop and execute an effective territory sales strategy to achieve revenue and profitability objectives.
  • Participate in wine industry trade shows, conferences, networking events, and customer demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with leadership and global product teams on market opportunities, product improvements, and new product introductions.

Qualifications

  • Winery equipment sales, capital equipment sales, technical equipment sales, industrial processing equipment sales, or closely related experience.
  • Winery equipment sales experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of winery operations, industrial equipment, mechanical systems, or processing equipment.
  • Experience selling capital equipment and managing longer, consultative sales cycles strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, business, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • Established relationships within the Northern California wine industry are a plus.
  • Must be based in, or able to work from, Sonoma County, California.
