Job Summary

Construction Billing Specialist / Project Accountant (Contract)
Modesto, CA - Hybrid or Remote
Full time 40-50 hours per week

You are a Billing Specialist / Project Accountant with experience in construction billing. You will be responsible for managing project billing activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting accounting functions for active construction projects. This role ensures timely and accurate invoice processing, payment application, and project setup while working closely with project teams and clients to maintain billing accuracy and compliance.

This position pays: $40-$48 per hour

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare, review, and submit project invoices through various client billing portals.
  • Research prior billings to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review and reconcile historical billing records to bring projects current.
  • Set up billing structures and schedules for new and existing projects.
  • Process and manage billing for paper-based projects and contracts.
  • Post bank and credit card transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Apply customer payments and perform cash application activities.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collections as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers and accounting staff to ensure accurate project financial reporting.
  • Maintain organized billing documentation and support audit requests.

What you bring:

  • Minimum of 2 years of billing experience within a union construction or related industry environment.
  • Experience processing construction project billings and managing invoice submissions.
  • Knowledge of construction accounting practices, accounts receivable, and cash applications.
  • QuickBooks Desktop experience preferred.
  • Union payroll or union accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify billing discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
