Computer Install Technician II - Temp Contract

Job Summary:
Computer Technician Level 2 (Tier II IT Support) is responsible for providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for computer hardware, software, printers, mobile devices, and network-connected systems in a Windows-based environment. This role serves as an escalation point for entry-level support staff and requires the ability to independently diagnose and resolve technical issues, install and configure equipment, manage user accounts and system access, and support both onsite and remote users in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of hands-on IT support experience, strong customer service and communication skills, and a solid understanding of operating systems, Microsoft applications, remote support tools, and basic networking concepts. Candidates with formal technical training, industry certifications, or a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field are highly preferred.

Location: San Jose, CA
Compensation: $42.00 - $45.00 hour
Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:00am-4:30pm (Contract 1week)


Key Responsibilities:
Basic Installation Service – CPU & Laptop

  • Unpacking new CPU & monitor from shipping boxes and inspecting components for any damage.
  • Verifying service tag for each new system against packing slip.
  • Notifying lead or help desk of any discrepancy or damage regarding the shipment of the equipment.
  • Move new equipment from central location to the end user desk side.
  • Organize system components and peripherals (e.g., keyboards, power cords, mice, and software) for deployment.
  • Perform basic Windows operating system troubleshooting and support
  • Follow verbal and written technical instructions, procedures, and scripts
  • Diagnose and resolve basic hardware and software issues
  • Assist with equipment setup, imaging, and configuration
  • Escalate complex technical issues as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed
Qualifications:
  • 2 - 3 year of experience servicing or deploying computer equipment or completion of a technical school certification
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Ability to understand and follow technical documentation and instructions
  • CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent skill set required
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Customer provided asset tag.
  • Apply one tag as mutually agreed upon.
  • Create report for Customer in a format mutually agreed upon, with System and Customer Asset information for each System.
