Assistant Inventory Planner
Emeryville, CA - Hybrid

You are an Assistant Inventory Planner who plays a critical, hands-on role in managing merchandise distribution to support company plans and maximize store performance. This position partners closely with Planning, Purchasing, Distribution, and Store teams to ensure optimal inventory levels, strong code life, minimized markdowns, and maximized inventory turns. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, exercises sound judgment, and brings analytical rigor and positive energy to cross-functional collaboration.

This position pays: $28.00 to $30.00 per hour

What you will be doing:

  • Execute strategic product distribution to stores to maximize turns and profitability
  • Analyze store-level data to identify trends and recommend actionable improvements
  • Manage seasonal distributions in partnership with Planning and Purchasing teams
  • Monitor warehouse inventory, including aged and expiring products, and take appropriate action
  • Support new store openings by building an optimal inventory mix with cross-functional partners
  • Manage store distribution groups based on volume, demographics, sales trends, and location
  • Own cross-functional communication regarding product sales, inventory position, and distribution strategies
  • Present analytics and inventory reports to various levels of management
  • Review in-stock positions for MTO items weekly with planners and buyers
  • Assist buyers with inventory updates, including code date and potential risk items
  • Execute profitable entrance and exit strategies for new, seasonal, and replacement programs
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute to distribution strategy discussions
  • Visit stores and warehouses as needed to support operational effectiveness

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Confidence making sound decisions with limited information
  • Intermediate Excel skills preferred
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based instructions
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ownership over assigned categories
  • Positive attitude, resourcefulness, and a drive to achieve strong business outcomes
