You are a Mail, Materials & Records Handler II where under general supervision you provide daily courier delivery, mail and materials processing and records retrieval services. You will sort and distribute courier mail and material. Maintain mail machines and barcoded-sorter; deliver, retrieve, file, transfer and store and dispose outside agency records. Operate forklift and conduct other warehouse equipment as related to the work.
This position pays: $27/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm
Location: Santa Rosa, CA
What you will be doing:
- Drives courier routes using cargo vans or UPS type step vans to pick up and deliver County interdepartmental and outside agencies envelopes, bags, tubs and boxes, plus records boxes and files.
- Picks up and delivers US Postal Mail and parcels and UPS parcels; picks up and delivers Treasurer’s checks to local banks.
- Unloads and distributes mail, materials and records at the Records Center; distributes items picked up to mailroom, warehouse, and sorting room areas.
- Sorts, distributes and processes picked up courier material, including interdepartmental and outside agencies mail and materials.
- Operates mail machines to process USPS mail to apply appropriate metered postage; operates barcoded sorter to process discounted mail; operates UPS computer to generate UPS mailing labels.
- Responds to records requests for box/file retrievals, interfiling, refiling, transfers, and destruction orders; maintains confidentiality and security of all records boxes/files stored at the Records Center.
- Operates forklifts, rolling safety ladders, electric scissors lift and other hand/mechanical equipment.
- Uses mail machines and barcoded-sorter and performs related maintenance and troubleshooting; interfaces with equipment technicians as needed.
- Fills supply orders and conduct inventory checks of records stored at the warehouse.
- Uses computers associated with metering and barcoding mail; maintains statistics and accesses Records Management software.
- Handles customer complaints and/or refers them to the Mail, Materials and Records Supervisor.
- Keeps assigned work areas and vehicles clean.
- Computer software experience related to US Postal Service.
- Experience driving a cargo van, step van or similar vehicle.
- Forklift operating experience.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- High attention to detail.
- Good attendance record.
