Job Summary

Senior Bookkeeper (Contract)
San Francisco or Modesto (Hybrid)

You are an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage the full spectrum of accounting operations for a growing $6.2M company with 20 employees. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing daily accounting functions, and ensuring timely payroll processing, including union payroll. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and proficient in QuickBooks Desktop.

This position pays: $45.00 to $48.00 per hour

What you will be doing:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting operations, including accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R)
  • Prepare and issue invoices, and oversee collections to ensure timely payments
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries
  • Process in-house payroll, including union payroll, ensuring compliance and accuracy
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Generate financial reports and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation
  • Collaborate with management on financial tracking and reporting needs

What you bring:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Bookkeeper or in a similar full-charge bookkeeping role
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop (required)
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and payroll processing, including union payroll
  • Experience with A/P, A/R, invoicing, collections, and journal entries
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
