Job Summary

Accounting Assistant (CONTRACT)

You are a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant who thrives in a flexible, remote environment and enjoys supporting both accounting and administrative functions within a small, collaborative team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day financial operations while helping streamline processes and support a growing organization.

This position pays: $30 - $33/hour depending on experience

Location: Remote, must work central time hours

What you will be doing:

  • Process vendor invoices through Rippling (approx. 100+ annually)
  • Support accounts receivable by managing incoming payments, including lockbox check processing and system updates
  • Assist with monthly billing cycles (ACH and physical checks)
  • Review and code credit card transactions, ensuring accurate GL allocation
  • Communicate with vendors as needed (primarily via email)
  • Generate client contracts from templates and maintain proper documentation
  • Attach and organize contracts within client profiles
  • Maintain backend operational and financial documentation
  • Provide general administrative support across accounting and operations
  • Assist with process improvements and automation efforts within AR and billing workflows
  • Support transition and use of systems including Maxio/Maxio Payments

What you bring:

  • Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and expense coding
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal direction
  • Comfortable navigating multiple systems (Rippling, ADP Workforce Now, or similar)
  • Proactive mindset with willingness to ask questions and improve processes
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills
  • Ability to balance accounting responsibilities with light administrative support
  • Experience in a remote work environment preferred
