Senior Accountant
St Helena, CA - Hybrid

You are a  Senior Accountant who will  support day-to-day accounting operations and is a key member of the finance team, working closely with the Controller to maintain accurate financial records as the company accelerates its growth. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment—particularly within the wine industry.

This position pays: $34.00 to $37.00 per hour

What you will be doing:

• Review and evaluate Accounts Payable transactions; ensure proper approvals, coding, and adherence to company policies.
• Partner with the Junior Accountant to maintain AP SOPs, vendor records, W9s, credit apps, and weekly reporting.
• Review bill.com to QuickBooks syncs; resolve errors and reconcile clearing accounts.
• Oversee Accounts Receivable across sales channels; ensure accurate invoicing, credit memo approvals, and cross-department coordination.
• Assist with invoicing for custom crush billing schedules.
• Support AR aging management, customer correspondence, and maintaining 30-day terms.
• Update fixed asset and packaging materials schedules.
• Reconcile GL accounts, bank statements, credit card accounts, and deposit clearing accounts.
• Analyze daily POS transactions and payment methods synced to QuickBooks.
• Assist with monthly inventory reconciliations.
• Review GL details for miscoded or miscategorized entries.
• Support the Controller with maintaining schedules for fixed assets, bulk wine inventory, cased goods, packing materials, and client billing.
• Track, manage, and reconcile event sales revenue and intercompany transactions.
• Build and maintain positive customer and vendor relationships.
• Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines.
• Contribute to a professional, collaborative, and positive team environment.

What you bring:

• 3–5 years of accounting experience in a mid-level role.
• Wine industry experience required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting/POS systems such as QB Enterprise, NAV, POS, SpotOn, Commerce7, and Vin65 (or similar).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer service orientation, and strong interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a team-focused environment.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strategic thinking and ability to identify process or business improvement opportunities.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
