Staff Accountant

You are a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with strong general accounting experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven nonprofit environment. You are comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities, supporting AP/AR functions, and maintaining accurate financial records while collaborating with a friendly, tight-knit finance team. You excel in environments where you can wear different hats, jump in where needed, and contribute to improving accounting processes during periods of transition and change.

This position pays: $30-35/hour depending on experience

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

What you will be doing:

• Supporting AP, AR, cash applications, and general accounting functions
• Processing invoices, payments, timesheets, and daily transactions
• Completing reconciliations and maintaining accurate general ledger entries
• Assisting with month-end and year-end close activities
• Supporting the Controller and Staff Accountants with overflow work
• Collaborating with a finance team in a friendly, fast-paced nonprofit environment
• Utilizing Sage Intacct for accounting processes (recently implemented)
• Contributing to process improvements and maintaining strong internal controls

What you bring:

• Experience in AP, AR, cash applications, reconciliations, and general accounting
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle a variety of responsibilities smoothly
• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through in a high-volume environment
• Nonprofit accounting experience (preferred)
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct ERP required
• Positive attitude, teamwork, and willingness to help wherever needed
• Comfort working onsite and collaborating with a small, supportive accounting department
• Ability to maintain quality and consistency during periods of transition
