Bookkeeper

You are a detail-oriented Bookkeeper with Single-Family Residential (SFR) trust accounting experience and strong AppFolio skills. In this temp-to-hire role, you will support trust accounting operations for a growing SFR portfolio, partnering closely with the Trust Accountant to manage transactions, maintain compliance, and help clear existing backlogs. This position is ideal for someone seeking long-term stability, with a strong desire to convert to full-time and commit to the team for the long run.

This position pays: $25 - 30/hour depending on experience

Location: Vallejo, San Diego, Central Valley, or remote within California

What you will be doing:

• Performing SFR trust bookkeeping for a multi-property residential portfolio
• Managing tenant and owner trust accounts
• Processing rent payments, deposits, refunds, and ACH disbursements
• Completing month-end bank reconciliations and supporting trust financial close
• Preparing owner statements, internal summaries, and audit documentation
• Ensuring California trust compliance across all financial activity
• Assisting with accounting backlog cleanup and daily workload
• Partnering closely with the Trust Accountant (Jenna) and office leadership
• Using AppFolio as the primary trust accounting system
• Using QuickBooks and Google Sheets for supplemental workflows
• Participating in daily check-ins

What you bring:

• SFR (Single-Family Residential) trust accounting/bookkeeping experience — required
• AppFolio experience — required
• Strong understanding of:
• Tenant/owner ledgers
• Rent collections, deposits, and refund workflows
• Month-end reconciliations and trust compliance
• Ability to manage high-volume transactions accurately
• Fast learner who can be both a thought partner and hands-on executor
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong desire to convert to full-time and commit long-term
• Reliable, professional, and comfortable in a collaborative team environment
