Payroll Specialist

You are are a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with a strong background in multi-entity payroll processing and a passion for accuracy, compliance, and employee service. You thrive in fast-paced environments, managing complex payroll functions while ensuring timeliness and precision across all aspects of payroll and HR support.

This position pays: $30-35/hour depending on experience

Location: St. Helena, CA

What you will be doing:

• Process biweekly payroll for 100+ employees across two entities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
• Manage timekeeping, overtime, commissions, and tip calculations accurately and on schedule
• Verify employee data, including new hire onboarding and benefit elections, prior to payroll submission
• Collaborate with HR to maintain accurate employee records and support benefits administration
• Partner with another payroll team member to ensure coverage, accuracy, and timely processing
• Prepare and review payroll reports, reconciliations, and post-payroll audits
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and leave balances
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with all company and labor policies

What you bring:

• 5–8 years of full-cycle payroll experience in a multi-entity environment
• Advanced proficiency with ADP (required)
• Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws, overtime, commissions, and tip reporting
• Experience handling payroll for 100+ employees with high attention to accuracy and deadlines
• Understanding of benefits, onboarding verification, and HR administrative tasks
• Excellent Excel and data validation skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and deliver reliable payroll service in a team setting
