Maintenance Mechanic
Location: St. Helena, CA
Compensation: $30–$40 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Full-Time

A respected, family-oriented wine production facility in St. Helena is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support facility operations and equipment reliability. This position plays a key role in maintaining production equipment, supporting safe plant operations, and contributing to a collaborative, craftsmanship-focused culture.
Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing a wide range of skilled maintenance tasks, including mechanical repair, electrical work, carpentry, and equipment troubleshooting. The role requires a solid understanding of production systems, strong problem-solving ability, and the flexibility to support off-shift work during harvest.
Key Responsibilities

Perform maintenance and repairs on production equipment, facilities, and systems

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues

Provide journey-level support across one or more skilled trade areas

Conduct carpentry, plumbing, painting, mechanical, and electrical repairs as needed

Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics

Operate and troubleshoot PLC-related systems

Perform basic welding and fabrication

Assist with installation, modification, and servicing of equipment

Follow all housekeeping, cleaning, and safety standards

Work off-shifts as required during harvest season
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

3–5 years of experience in a winery, food/beverage, or similar production environment

Completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent training for journey-level recognition

Strong knowledge of production equipment (presses, de-stemmers, pumps, etc.)

Working knowledge of tools, codes, and procedures in relevant skilled trade areas

Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems

Basic welding/fabrication skills; manual mill and lathe experience a plus

Must be able to speak, read, and write English
