Job Summary
Staff Accountant
You are a proactive and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our finance team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to financial reporting, system implementation, and process improvement initiatives.
This position pays: $32.00 to $38.00 per hour
What you will be doing:
- Prepare general ledger entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Ensure accounting procedures comply with GAAP
- Perform monthly account reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements
- Analyze financial data through spreadsheet reporting and verification
- Prepare check requests and reconcile expense accounts
- Support implementation of new financial systems
- Maintain up-to-date grant accounting records
- Assist with regulatory filings and compliance reports
- Recommend improvements to accounting procedures
- Research and respond to financial and accounting inquiries
- Perform data interfacing across accounting and other systems
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information
- Stay current with accounting standards and practices
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting roles
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive financial data
- Proficiency with accounting software and system troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
