Job Summary
Director of Finance (CONTRACT)
You are a mission-driven finance leader with deep nonprofit experience. You bring strong GAAP knowledge, audit readiness, and a collaborative leadership style. You’re ready to step into a transitioning finance department, stabilize systems, and support long-term sustainability in a values-driven environment.
This position pays:
- $55-65/hour DOE (Temp-to-Hire preferred)
- Target salary range upon hire: $115,000 – $135,000/year
What you will be doing:
- Advising leadership on financial planning, investment priorities, and forecasting
- Developing and supporting long-term financial sustainability models
- Preparing monthly and annual financial reports for leadership and the board
- Overseeing the annual budget process and ensuring alignment with strategic goals
- Managing annual audit preparation and serving as liaison to external auditors
- Ensuring internal controls, financial policies, and procedures are effective and up to date
- Supporting grant reporting, compliance, and invoicing in coordination with program and development teams
- Supervising all accounting functions, including AP/AR, bookkeeping, and cash management
- Minimum 5 years of nonprofit finance and operations experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Familiarity with restricted and unrestricted revenue streams
- Experience with audit coordination and financial reporting to funders
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
- General understanding of payroll and tax regulations (e.g., ADP)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to train and support team members and collaborate across departments
