Job Summary

Director of Finance (CONTRACT)

You are a mission-driven finance leader with deep nonprofit experience. You bring strong GAAP knowledge, audit readiness, and a collaborative leadership style. You’re ready to step into a transitioning finance department, stabilize systems, and support long-term sustainability in a values-driven environment.

This position pays: 

  • $55-65/hour DOE (Temp-to-Hire preferred)
  • Target salary range upon hire: $115,000 – $135,000/year

  What you will be doing:

  • Advising leadership on financial planning, investment priorities, and forecasting
  • Developing and supporting long-term financial sustainability models
  • Preparing monthly and annual financial reports for leadership and the board
  • Overseeing the annual budget process and ensuring alignment with strategic goals
  • Managing annual audit preparation and serving as liaison to external auditors
  • Ensuring internal controls, financial policies, and procedures are effective and up to date
  • Supporting grant reporting, compliance, and invoicing in coordination with program and development teams
  • Supervising all accounting functions, including AP/AR, bookkeeping, and cash management
What you bring:
  • Minimum 5 years of nonprofit finance and operations experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Familiarity with restricted and unrestricted revenue streams
  • Experience with audit coordination and financial reporting to funders
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
  • General understanding of payroll and tax regulations (e.g., ADP)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to train and support team members and collaborate across departments
