Staff Accountant (Part-Time - 20 hrs. per week))

You are a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting and payroll functions during an employee leave. This role performs professional accounting duties including maintaining and analyzing accounting records, preparing schedules and reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and CVNL policies and procedures.

This position pays: $34.00 to $37.00 per hour

What you will be doing:

• Maintain and update accounting records and files
• Prepare and post journal entries; reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts
• Reconcile bank statements and assist with month-end close activities
• Analyze transactions in collaboration with department heads
• Monitor monthly accrual-based journal entries and budget vs. actuals
• Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
• Assist the CFO with payroll tasks, including timesheet review and validation
• Record payroll activity in the general ledger and maintain strict confidentiality
• Support 403(b) matching and related annual compliance testing
• Help implement or streamline payroll processing procedures
• Ensure timely payroll processing and respond to staff payroll inquiries

What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end processes
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices
• Payroll processing experience and strong attention to confidentiality
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheets (e.g., Excel)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a part-time, temporary role
