Staff Accountant (CONTRACT)
You are a detail-oriented accountant who enjoys hands-on accounting and supporting financial operations in a fast-paced startup environment. You will help maintain accurate books as trading activity, settlements, and client funds move through the platform, with opportunities to grow as the organization scales.
This position pays: $40-50/hour depending on experience
Location: San Francisco, CA
What you will be doing:
- Perform daily cash, position, and trade reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Support month-end close through journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Track settlements, fees, and client fund flows across custodians, banks, and clearing partners.
- Help maintain internal controls and accurate, audit-ready documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve and automate reporting workflows.
- Assist with regulatory and financial reporting as needed.
What you bring:
- 4+ years of accounting experience.
- A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including lookups, pivot tables, and large data sets.
- An interest in capital markets; knowledge of the trade lifecycle or settlement processes is a plus.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and adapting to a startup pace.
- Experience at a broker-dealer, fund administrator, or fintech company is preferred.
