Staff Accountant (CONTRACT)
You are an experienced Staff Accountant who can step in and provide immediate support to a busy accounting department. This is a temporary 3–4 month assignment with a nonprofit organization in Santa Rosa. You will support day-to-day general accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, cash receipts, accounts payable review, and month-end close.
This position pays: $35-40/hour depending on experience
Location: Santa Rosa, CA
What you will be doing:
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Review accounts payable invoices
- Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations
- Review and prepare journal entries
- Prepare adjusting journal entries as needed
- Process and post cash receipts
- Manage prepaid expenses using the Sage Intacct prepaid module
- Manage fixed assets using the Sage Intacct fixed asset module
- Assist with the monthly closing process
- Support the Controller with accounting activities as directed
- Provide accounting coverage and assist with additional duties when other accounting personnel are absent
What you bring:
- Staff Accountant or similar general accounting experience
- Strong understanding of balance sheets and operating statements
- Experience with bank and account reconciliations
- Experience preparing journal entries and adjusting entries
- Month-end close experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to quickly get up to speed and contribute during a temporary assignment
- Sage Intacct experience preferred
- Bill.com accounts payable experience preferred
- Paycom payroll software experience is a plus
