Temporary Part-Time Director of Human Resources
You are an experienced HR leader who is thoughtful, organized, collaborative, and comfortable stepping into a hands-on leadership role. You bring strong employee relations, compliance, benefits, and HR operations experience and are passionate about supporting employees and contributing to a mission-driven organization.
Location: San Anselmo, Ca
This Position Pays: $65–$70/hr
Schedule: Part-time, 2–3 days per week
Duration: Temporary, approximately 4–6 months (November 2026–April 2027)
What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead and oversee day-to-day HR operations for a small, 2-person HR department.
- Advise managers and employees on workplace concerns, grievances, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
- Oversee performance management and employee evaluations through Paycom HRIS.
- Manage employee benefits, including enrollment, eligibility, billing, and broker relationships.
- Supervise, coach, and support the HR Generalist.
- Oversee personnel changes related to compensation, job changes, and other employment matters.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and related communications and follow-up.
- Oversee leave of absence and workplace accommodation processes.
- Partner with leadership and legal counsel on labor relations, union matters, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Ensure HR policies and practices remain compliant with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Help foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Strong experience with employee relations, benefits, leave administration, compliance, and HR operations.
- Experience supervising or leading HR staff.
- HRIS and Microsoft 365 proficiency; Paycom experience highly desirable.
- Experience with labor/union relations and Collective Bargaining Agreements preferred.
- Strong judgment, discretion, organization, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, human services, residential services, or another regulated environment preferred.
- Compassion and patience when working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to pass required physical/TB screening and FBI/DOJ background checks.
- A collaborative, hands-on, and can-do approach.
