CNC Research Technician, Carvera

You are a hands-on CNC Research Technician with experience operating, setting up, troubleshooting, and testing CNC equipment. You are comfortable working with small-format CNC machines, precision tooling, machining processes, and documenting test results. You enjoy experimenting with machining parameters and finding ways to improve machine performance, accuracy, and usability.

This position pays: $36.00–$42.00 per hour

What you will be doing

  • Operate and set up Carvera CNC machines for research, testing, and development.
  • Run machining trials and evaluate cutting performance, accuracy, surface finish, and repeatability.
  • Develop and adjust feeds, speeds, tooling, workholding, and machining parameters.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and machining instructions.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and process issues.
  • Perform measurements and inspect machined parts to verify specifications.
  • Document test results, observations, and recommended process improvements.
  • Work closely with engineers and other technical team members on CNC research and development projects.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean machining environment.

What you bring

  • Hands-on experience with CNC machining, setup, or operation.
  • Experience with desktop or small-format CNC equipment is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and understand GD&T and dimensional tolerances.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machining processes.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Basic CAD/CAM experience and ability to work with CNC programs/G-code.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with an engineering/R&D team.
