Materials Management Supervisor (MRO)

You are a hands-on and experienced Materials Management Supervisor with a strong background managing MRO/storeroom operations, inventory control, and warehouse teams. You have experience leading union and non-union teams, optimizing material flow, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and partnering with Procurement, Operations, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to support plant needs.

Must have prior union experience.

This position pays: $48–$55/hr

What you will be doing:

  • Manage daily MRO/storeroom operations, including inventory movement, replenishment, and material availability.
  • Lead and supervise a team of 3–10 storeroom employees, including union and non-union employees.
  • Work directly within a union environment and effectively manage, coach, and support union employees.
  • Coordinate inventory activities including stock counts, cycle counts, staging, transfers, and material assignments.
  • Ensure accurate posting of goods movements, receipts, transfers, consumption, and inventory adjustments.
  • Partner with Procurement, Operations, Planning, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to support plant requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and optimize MRO materials to support maintenance activities, shutdowns, and projects.
  • Troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, material movement issues, and process challenges.
  • Manage obsolete and slow-moving inventory.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse operations and supply chain processes.
  • Ensure compliance with warehouse safety practices, housekeeping standards, and material handling procedures.
  • Conduct team meetings, approve payroll, manage scheduling, coach employees, and support performance development.
  • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with employees, supervisors, management, and union representatives.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in inventory management, materials management, fulfillment, production planning, or supply chain operations.
  • Previous experience managing an MRO/storeroom operation.
  • Must have prior experience working in a union environment.
  • Must have experience supervising or managing union employees.
  • Ability to effectively navigate union work rules, employee relations, scheduling, and workplace expectations.
  • Supervisory experience leading warehouse, inventory, or materials teams.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems in a supply chain or inventory capacity.
  • Strong SAP experience, including Material Requirements Planning (MRP), highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices, cycle counting, replenishment strategies, and warehouse processes.
  • Experience managing both union and non-union employees.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Strong communication, leadership, collaboration, and employee-management skills.
