Financial Analyst (CONTRACT)
You are a skilled Financial Analyst with a strong accounting foundation and advanced expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Power BI. You will be responsible for improving the accuracy and consistency of financial reporting, identifying and validating financial data within Business Central, and creating reliable, user-friendly reports for leadership, operations, and banking needs.
This position pays: $50-60/hour depending on experience
Location: Port Washington, New York
What you will be doing:
- Review existing financial reports and identify accuracy, consistency, and data integrity issues
- Determine the best methods for pulling both canned and Business Analysis reports from Business Central
- Locate and validate the appropriate financial and operational data within Business Central
- Build accurate, user-friendly Power BI reports and dashboards
- Ensure Power BI reporting consistently reconciles to the Balance Sheet, General Ledger, and related applications
- Develop costed inventory reporting by warehouse
- Develop Trial Balance Detail and Summary reports
- Develop Accounts Receivable Roll Forward reports
- Develop A/R Aging Detail and Summary reports
- Develop A/P Aging Detail and Summary reports
- Develop Brand P&L reporting by state and brand
- Develop Daily Invoice Registers
- Improve reporting used by leadership to run the business and communicate financial results to banking partners
- Validate reporting against GAAP and underlying accounting records
- Work closely with the VP of Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders to understand reporting requirements
- Create repeatable reporting processes that can be maintained after the engagement
- Train accounting and finance team members on report creation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Document reporting processes and best practices for ongoing use
What you bring:
- Expert-level or super-user experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Strong hands-on experience creating financial and operational reports in Power BI
- Deep understanding of where financial data resides within Business Central and how to extract and reconcile it
- Strong accounting background with knowledge of GAAP and the General Ledger
- Experience with inventory accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, and P&L reporting
- Ability to reconcile reporting outputs back to the GL and source applications
- Experience building reliable financial reports used by senior leadership
- Strong understanding of reporting controls, data validation, and financial accuracy
- Ability to troubleshoot inconsistent or inaccurate financial reports and identify the underlying cause
- Strong Excel and financial data analysis skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to translate complex accounting data into clear, user-friendly reports
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with Finance and Operations leadership
- Ability to train users and explain Business Central and Power BI reporting processes clearly
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of a reporting improvement project
- Wine and spirits industry experience is highly preferred
- Available for a 1–3 month consulting engagement
- Ability to work onsite in New York as needed; hybrid flexibility is available
