Vice President of Development & Marketing – Nonprofit
Location: Sonoma County, CA
Salary: $150,000–$170,000 annually
Schedule: Full-Time, primarily onsite
We are seeking an accomplished Vice President of Development & Marketing to join the executive leadership team of a respected Sonoma County nonprofit. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic, mission-driven leader to shape marketing and communications, grants, community engagement, fundraising, and revenue growth.
The VP will develop and execute integrated strategies that increase organizational visibility, strengthen community partnerships, and diversify revenue. Key responsibilities include leading marketing and brand strategy; overseeing digital communications and storytelling; managing the full grants lifecycle from prospecting and proposal development through compliance, reporting, and stewardship; developing relationships with foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners; and leading grassroots fundraising and small- and mid-level donor engagement.
The role will also provide strategic oversight of community programming and facility-use initiatives designed to increase engagement and earned revenue. This leader will manage departmental budgets, establish goals and KPIs, supervise staff and external partners, and collaborate closely with development and program leadership.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit development, marketing, communications, grants management, or community engagement
- Demonstrated success securing and managing grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies
- Experience developing and implementing strategic marketing and communications initiatives
- Proven experience leading fundraising campaigns, donor engagement strategies, and community partnerships
- Supervisory and team leadership experience required, including cross-functional collaboration and staff development
- Strong project management, organizational, and budget management skills
- Experience using CRM and donor management systems such as Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, Bloomerang, or similar platforms preferred
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills required
