Assistant Planner
Emeryville, CA (Hybrid schedule)
You are an Assistant Planner supporting inventory planning and distribution to ensure optimal product availability, profitability, and sales performance across stores. This hands-on role requires strong analytical skills, quick decision-making, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to manage inventory flow, execute allocation strategies, and respond to business trends.
This position pays: $34.00 to $35.00 per hour
What you will be doing:
- Execute product distribution strategies to maximize store turns and profitability
- Allocate merchandise in alignment with assortment strategies and company initiatives
- Analyze store-level data to identify trends and recommend actionable improvements
- Support seasonal distribution plans in coordination with planning and purchasing teams
- Monitor and manage aged and expiring inventory; partner with planners on corrective actions
- Assist in building inventory assortments for new store openings
- Manage store distribution groups based on demographics, size, and sales trends
- Communicate inventory positions, sales performance, and distribution updates across teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Planning, Purchasing, Stores, and Distribution
- Participate in meetings to contribute insights on allocation and distribution strategies
- Review inventory levels for key items and ensure alignment with demand
- Prepare and present reports and analysis to management
- Support buyers with inventory and product lifecycle updates
- Execute entry and exit strategies for seasonal and new merchandise programs
- Conduct store and warehouse visits as needed
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Sound decision-making skills with the ability to act quickly on limited information
- Proficiency in interpreting data, reports, and operational instructions
- Intermediate Excel skills preferred
- Resourceful, adaptable, and accountable with a sense of ownership over responsibilities
