Payroll Specialist – Part time (20 hours per week)
St Helena, CA (onsite)
You are a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with construction or trades industry experience to manage biweekly payroll and support HR administration. This role focuses on prevailing wage compliance, accurate payroll processing, and employee lifecycle support. Ideal for a professional who thrives in a part-time, hands-on environment with strong regulatory knowledge.
This position pays: $38.00 to $40.00 per hour
What you will be doing:
- Process daily timecards and manage biweekly payroll for ~30 employees
- Upload and maintain prevailing wage data with the California DIR system
- Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and proper recordkeeping
- Support HR functions: job postings, onboarding, and offboarding
- Administer employee benefits and maintain personnel records
- Assist with payroll reporting and respond to employee inquiries
What you bring:
- 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably in construction or trades
- Must have hands-on experience with prevailing wage and DIR reporting in California
- CPP certification preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Familiarity with Sage payroll systems a plus
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and compliance knowledge
- Ability to work independently in a part-time capacity
