Senior Paralegal
You are a highly detail-oriented Contracts and IP professional with deep experience in life sciences, biotech, or pharma. You are comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment and thrive in cross-functional roles partnering with Legal, R&D, Commercial, Finance, IT, and external counsel. You bring strong systems expertise and a process-improvement mindset to contracting and intellectual property operations.
Location: San Francisco (Onsite/Hybrid)
This Position Pays: $50 – $60/hr DOE
Duration: 18-month contract
What You Will Be Doing:
Contracts & Legal Operations
- Draft, review, and manage a wide range of agreements, including NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, consulting, vendor, collaboration, and research-related contracts
- Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including intake, approvals, tracking, reporting, and compliance
- Serve as system administrator and primary point of contact for the contract lifecycle management (CLM) system and related vendors
- Design and improve legal processes, KPIs, workflows, and training related to contracting
Intellectual Property Support
- Draft, review, and maintain assignments, powers of attorney, and trademark documentation
- Manage patent prosecution documentation, including filings, official correspondence, notices, and letters patent
- Maintain internal IP databases and ensure accuracy of patent-related records
- Support patent annuity and maintenance tracking
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Act as a key liaison between Legal and internal stakeholders, including R&D, Commercial, Finance, and IT
- Coordinate with outside counsel and international associates on patent and contract matters
- Serve as the primary contact for contracting and legal process inquiries
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Paralegal Certificate or equivalent legal training strongly preferred
- 7+ years of experience in contracts management and/or IP paralegal roles, ideally in biotech, pharma, or life sciences
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing complex commercial agreements
- Strong experience with patent prosecution documentation, assignments, powers of attorney, and annuity tracking
- Deep expertise with CLM systems, including administration, workflow configuration, reporting, and vendor coordination
- Proven ability to design and improve legal and contracting processes
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage high document volume with accuracy
- Strong communication skills and professionalism in handling confidential information
