Maintenance and Engineering Director
Compensation: $175,000 – $190,000 annually
Location: Sonoma County
The Director of Maintenance & Engineering will lead maintenance and engineering operations for a fast-paced, premium food processing and distribution environment. This role is critical to ensuring operational reliability, equipment efficiency, regulatory compliance, and safety across 24/7 operations.
This leader is accountable for executing daily operational plans and delivering measurable results across labor and maintenance costs, equipment uptime, waste reduction (ingredients, and packaging), and continuous improvement—while building and sustaining a high-performing technical organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance and engineering strategies to ensure continuous, 24/7 operational reliability of production systems, utilities, and facilities
- Partner with Operations leadership to drive process improvements, cost controls, and equipment performance optimization
- Oversee the development and execution of SOPs, automation standards, and preventive/predictive maintenance programs
- Manage capital equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and vendor relationships
- Leverage KPIs and CMMS data to improve asset utilization, reduce downtime, and increase efficiency
- Champion safety, quality, sanitation, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or equivalent technical background
- Experience in food or beverage manufacturing (dairy strongly preferred)
- Progressive leadership experience
- Strong expertise in CMMS systems, AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and PLC platforms (Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens)
- Proven success managing CapEx budgets, leading process improvements, and negotiating vendor contracts
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and food safety regulations
