Bookkeeper & Payroll Coordinator

Ukiah, CA – Onsite


You are a professional, detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Payroll Coordinator to serve as the primary face of our Ukiah office. This role manages bookkeeping and payroll services for 30+ clients, primarily small S-Corps, and supports preparation of tax-ready financials. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and able to multitask in a client-focused environment.

This position pays: $35.00 to $40.00 per hour

What you will be doing:

  • Represent Financial Group as the North Bay Bookkeeping and Payroll Coordinator.
  • Manage the workflow for assigned bookkeeping and payroll accounts.
  • Produce and review financial reports including P&Ls, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Verify accuracy of figures, journal entries, and financial statements; make corrections as needed.
  • Reconcile client books to bank, credit card, and payroll statements.
  • Assist with tax return preparation and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and update charts of accounts to align with business requirements.
  • Run payroll as directed by clients or the company.
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end payroll reports.
  • Prepare and track 1099s
  • Participate in year-end reviews with the manager and tax team.

What you bring:

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience with emphasis on tax preparation.
  • Strong understanding of profit and loss and balance sheet composition.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online/Desktop, Microsoft Office/Excel, and payroll applications.
  • Ability to foresee issues, develop solutions, and implement preventive strategies.
  • Capability to manage multiple client files efficiently and accurately.
  • Receptive to direction and comfortable asking clarifying questions.
  • Ability to consistently achieve 5 billable hours per day (mandatory).
