Accounting Technician (CONTRACT)
You are an Accounting Technician responsible for the daily operations of the Accounting Department. This role requires integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism while supporting essential accounting functions. You will work closely with the Controller and management to ensure accuracy and efficiency across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting processes.
This position pays: $22-27/hour depending on experience
Location: Santa Rosa, CA
What you will be doing:
- Providing a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and trustworthiness in all accounting and personnel matters
- Supporting the Controller and management to ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed
- Maintaining courteous and professional communication with clients, vendors, tenants, and employees
- Accounts Payable (A/P)
- Processing the full accounts payable cycle accurately and in a timely manner
- Reviewing invoices for accuracy and validity, obtaining required approvals, and coding to the appropriate general ledger accounts
- Preparing and executing weekly check runs (Tuesdays), including cash requirement reports for approval, printing, and preparing checks for signature
- Coordinating with reception for mailing and electronic filing of payment backup
- Accounts Receivable (A/R)
- Maintaining client accounts and posting receivables (checks, credit card payments, deposits, retainers)
- Ensuring payments and invoices are posted correctly, contacting clients for clarification when needed
- Preparing and processing client invoices, as well as monthly client statements
- Communicating retainers or agency checks to appropriate staff
What you bring:
- High school diploma or GED required; degree in Business Administration or Accounting preferred
- Proficiency with Office 365 (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel); experience with Deltek Vantagepoint a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to manage priorities
- Versatility, flexibility, and adaptability to changing tasks and workflows
- Acute attention to detail and accuracy
- Sound judgment and ability to make timely, informed decisions
