Accounting Manager (CONTRACT)
You are an experienced Accounting Manager with a strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance filings. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions by maintaining and producing financial information and accounting tasks. They are responsible for ensuring the integrity and reliability of General Ledger Balances. The role will manage and oversee a team of two people, the Accounts Payable Specialist and the Administrative Assistant.
This position pays: $60-65/hour DOE
What you will be doing:
- Provide professional accounting support to the CFO
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including the posting of all necessary general ledger entries.
- Oversee all financial accounting to ensure that expenditures are aligned with budgets.
- Responsible for setting up general ledger accounts and ensures all system financial coding is accurate, performing periodic checks to make sure that sales and expenses are being processed correctly and accurately.
- Audits departmental accounting data, identifies and corrects errors, identifies and computes accruals, applies accounting principles to transactions and recommends revisions in departmental accounting procedures to ensure conformance with GAAP.
- Completes all reconciliations of the Balance Sheet.
- Reconciles bank accounts, including the accounting for all merchant service activities, ZBA payroll activity and other cash activities.
- Works with Human Resource department to ensure that payroll entries are posted accurately, and accruals are posted on time.
- Oversees accounts payable to ensure accurate coding and timely payments, along with proper accruals being posted on a monthly basis.
- Assist with bulk and case goods costing and reconciling to the general ledger.
- Manage annual grape grower payment preparation and reporting.
- Responsible for sales tax payments and returns.
- Responsible for all vineyard accounting including grape costing.
- Generate and distribute monthly expense reports (trial balance) to department managers.
- Provide backup to the Sales Operations Director when out or as needed.
- Coordinate and assist outside CPA firm for the preparation of annual reviewed financial statements and tax returns.
- Ensure accuracy of fixed asset classification, lives, depreciation method and reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and department budgets, and actual expenditures.
What you bring:
- BA/BS Degree in accounting, CPA or MBA a plus but is not required
- Requires 5+ years of experience in an accounting role in the wine industry
- Advanced/strong Excel skills required
- Microsoft Business Central experience a plus
- Highly proficient with computerized accounting and financial systems
- Ability to meet required deadlines, multitask, and at times manage high levels of stress
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers, management, and vendors
