Health & Safety Manager
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $85,000 – $110,000 per year

Sonoma County is seeking a Health & Safety Manger to lead our safety initiatives and uphold our commitment to excellence in workplace safety.
Job Summary
The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and visitors. This role plays a critical part in developing, implementing, and managing effective safety programs, risk assessments, and compliance protocols across all work environments.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.

Conduct regular workplace hazard assessments and risk evaluations.

Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.

Lead safety audits and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.

Deliver training sessions and safety awareness campaigns to promote a strong safety culture.

Maintain accurate records of incidents, training, inspections, and safety-related activities.

Evaluate safety strategies and adapt programs for continuous improvement.

Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies, insurance providers, and safety consultants.

Support emergency response planning and crisis management efforts.

Promote organizational values of sustainability, integrity, respect, and forward-thinking.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety role, ideally in food manufacturing or a similar environment.

Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CHMM, CFPS) strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.

Experience with food safety and GMP regulations; HACCP certification preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams.

Familiarity with platforms such as RedZone, Business Central (ERP), and HRIS systems.

Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance for inter-site travel.
