Payroll Administrator

Location: Remote – San Jose, CA  area 

You are a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to manage full-cycle payroll processing and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. This role requires strong expertise in ADP Workforce Now (WFN), excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of California payroll laws. The ideal candidate will serve as a key liaison between HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors, helping drive accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all payroll operations.

This position pays: $28.00 to $32.00 per hour

What you will be doing:

• Process full-cycle payroll, including timecard approval, garnishments, bonuses, and final pays
• Manage all payroll cycles, including year-end reporting and W-2 distribution
• Review PSRs, PANs, pay rate changes, benefit adjustments, and direct deposits
• Administer and maintain payroll system setup and vendor relationship with ADP
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and labor laws
• Support payroll audits and act as lead contact for 401(k) audits
• Collaborate with accounting on payroll GL reconciliations and reporting
• Respond to employee inquiries and government agency requests professionally and promptly
• Identify and implement payroll process improvements to support HR and Finance integration

 

What you bring:

• 3–5 years of hands-on payroll experience, including California payroll
• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and related payroll platforms
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws, labor regulations, and compliance
• Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, and time management skills
• Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and customer service abilities
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage sensitive information with discretion
• Experience with payroll-related audits and statutory reporting
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant certification is a plus
