Senior R&D Technician

Location: Campbell, CA

Hours: Part-Time 20 hours a week

Salary Range: $40.00-$45.00/HR (depending on experience)



Summary:

The Senior R&D Technician supports product research and development by building prototypes and developing processes, with a focus on blood clot synthesis. This role collaborates closely with engineers, marketing, and cross-functional teams to transform concepts into tangible product components. This position demands initiative, strong technical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Design and develop blood clot making processes and prototype fixtures (including rapid prototyping)
  • Independently test new designs, ideas, and processes related to blood clot creation
  • Collaborate with engineers and marketing to refine blood clot requirements and designs
  • Accurately pipette, dispense, and document all testing results
  • Develop and revise work instructions and perform in-vitro/bench testing
  • Document new ideas, test results, and build procedures following good laboratory practices
  • Assist engineers in vendor searches and initiate orders
  • Train others on best manufacturing practices and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Build blood clots for preclinical and clinical evaluations
  • Conduct and document design and process qualification builds/tests
  • Promote and adhere to Quality Management System, FDA, and regulatory requirements

What you bring:

  • Minimum of 4 years related experience or equivalent education and work background
  • Strong computer skills (MS Excel, MS Outlook) and communication abilities
  • Experience with R&D equipment (pipettes, scales, centrifuges, adhesives)
  • Familiarity with materials used in medical devices (blood, polymers, metals, chemicals)
  • Ability to independently perform tensile, fatigue, or related medical device testing
  • Knowledge of GMPs, ISO 9001, and regulated quality systems
  • Strong organizational skills and experience interacting effectively with R&D and cross-functional teams
