Director of Operations

Wholesale Food Distribution

Location: South San Francisco

Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 8pm – 4am

Salary Range: $120,000 – $135,000 Depending upon experience

Summary:

We are a successful produce company in South San Francisco, providing fresh, organic produce, local herbs, spices, and dairy products to restaurants, hotels, and other clients. We are seeking a Director of Operations to lead our distribution and warehousing teams. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cost and process efficiencies, produce distribution, fleet management and facility safety.

Conversational or bilingual in English and Spanish is a must!

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Optimize Operations: Develop and implement best practices for warehouse, distribution, and routing to ensure timely and efficient order packing and delivery.
  • Ensure Quality Control: Create procedures in line with HAACP standards to guarantee customers receive fresh produce daily.
  • Oversee Maintenance: Establish and manage truck and warehouse maintenance policies in compliance with HAACP, ensuring food safety and operational efficiency.
  • Financial Management: Review budgets, develop project cost estimates, and manage resources effectively to stay within financial constraints.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop key performance indicators to enhance profitability by optimizing routes and delivery drops.
  • Organizational Development: Recommend and implement optimal organizational structures to support company growth.
  • Team Leadership: Set departmental goals, provide orientation and training, and ensure team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Employee Management: Handle disciplinary actions and terminations in accordance with company policies.

What You Bring:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in operations, warehousing, and produce distribution, with a strong background in dispatching, fleet management, and refrigerated warehousing.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills: Proven ability to achieve operational objectives, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong attention to detail.

  • Safety and Security: Knowledgeable in safety procedures and proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues.

  • Planning/Organizing: Skilled in prioritizing tasks, planning resources, and setting realistic goals.
  • Change Management: Experienced in implementing changes and guiding teams through transitions.
