Location: Northern Virginia primarily (Fredericksburg, Manassas, Lorton, Springfield)

Hours: Monday through Friday, full-time

Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 base salary, plus 10% annual bonus

Summary

We are a national Wine and Spirits Distribution Company seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee our Northern Virginia territory. In this role, you will lead a team of drivers, manage day-to-day logistics, and act as the key liaison between the Transportation Manager and drivers. Your focus will be on ensuring efficient delivery operations, safety, and compliance with company and DOT standards.  The right candidate will be tech savvy with on-truck camera systems and typical Transportation Management and Routing software. This position will also require a strong ability to communicate with drivers, internal stakeholders and our customers daily.


What You Will Be Doing: 



  • Manage Driver Operations: Oversee all driver activities, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups across multiple locations.
  • Scheduling & Coverage: Plan and manage driver schedules, accounting for absences and vacations to ensure route coverage.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track driver performance, handle disciplinary actions, and provide feedback to management.  Ability to assess driver performance using on-truck cameras and Routing Software systems
  • Recruitment & Training: Recruit, train, and onboard new drivers in line with company guidelines and DOT regulations.
  • Driver Audits & Compliance: Conduct regular driver audits, maintain fuel receipts, and ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA standards.
  • Emergency Route Support: Step in as an emergency back-up driver when needed.
  • Safety & Equipment Management: Perform vehicle spot inspections, train staff on safety policies, and ensure all equipment is maintained.
  • Coordination with Sales & Customer Service: Act as liaison between drivers and sales teams, addressing delivery issues and coordinating solutions.


What You Bring: 

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; additional education preferred.
  • Experience: At least one year of supervisory experience in logistics; prior experience as a truck driver preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and routing systems such as Samsara, Geotab, Lytx, and RoadNet.
  • License: Valid Driver’s License required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with standard office equipment, driver communication tools, and routing software.
  • Safety Awareness: Ability to enforce vehicular safety policies and conduct safety training for staff.
