Part-Time Accountant/Bookkeeper (Ongoing Contract)

You are a self-starter with a strong foundation in accounting fundamentals, ready to take on the challenge of managing our financial records and processes. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy of our books and supporting our financial health.

This position pays: $42-45/hr

What you will be doing:

  • Close the books on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Handle adjustments and corrections to the balance sheet.
  • Process retirement allocations in our benefits packages.
  • Support the complex process of retiring employee-owned stock, involving buying from owners and allocating to employees over time.
  • Perform accruals and adjusting journal entries (AJE).
  • Manage quarterly and end-of-year accruals, including bonuses.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheets to view and compare previous and current year data.
  • Assist in normal bookkeeping responsibilities such as journal entries and quarterly books.
  • Investigate discrepancies in the balance sheet and determine their causes.
  • Clean up 2023’s books to ensure accuracy by September.

What you bring:

  • Strong experience with accrual accounting.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
  • Ability to close books monthly and handle retirement allocations and employee-owned stock programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently without needing extensive guidance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to speak up when something is needed to complete tasks.
