Our client, a statewide organization serving professional firefighters, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. This role will be pivotal in supporting the organization’s financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, a minimum of 3 years of experience in general accounting with financial statement preparation, and a strong understanding of GAAP principles. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent analytical and communication skills, and be able to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

What you will do: 

  • Prepare weekly and monthly bank reconciliation reports.
  • Generate weekly and month-end cash reports.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts.
  • Create journal entries and compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Conduct analyses of general ledger accounts.
  • Review cash receipts, accounts receivable billing, and accounts payable trial balances.
  • Prepare and review statutory and compliance reports.
  • Assist in annual audit preparation.
  • Conduct financial and ad hoc analyses as required.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.
  • Provide support to the Senior Accountant and Lead Accountant as needed.

What you will bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 3+ years of experience in general accounting with financial statement preparation.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP principles.
  • Proficiency in PC skills, particularly Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and time management abilities.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering accurate results.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial data.


This hybrid role (after a period of time) offers a compensation of $68-$80,000 per year and includes 100% paid benefits for employee and dependents as well as an additional 10% annual 401k contribution.
